Hey y’all! I just want to show and tell you a little about my hometown. I am from the small, historic town of Fredericksburg, Virginia. I was born and raised in Virginia. I am in love with my hometown, but I am not a very big fan of the state. I am a firm believer in the fact that I was meant to live in Georgia! I am extremely obsessed with Savannah! My town has a southern charm to it and is very inviting to all. I will show you a few of my favorite places and things to do in my hometown. After living there for 19 years, it sure does not feel like a very interesting town! But here it goes…
Y’all saw quite a few from this series of pictures in my Hometown Honey post! However, I wanted to take a minute to kind of explain where I am in these photos. I am in the historic downtown of my city. It is filled with many brick walls and eerie little alleyways. Until this summer, I had never taken advantage of the artsy layout and aesthetic of my city. We have graffiti, exposed brick, and many doors in alleys. Also, I would like to take a quick minute to thank my good friend Austin Simmons for following me around with a camera in 95 degree heat to capture this particular series of photos!
This is one of our more recent additions, but it is a cool spot! We got a Sugar Shack Doughnuts, which are popular in Virginia. The cool thing about this Sugar Shack is that it is in an old, renovated gas station. My town is really into taking old buildings and repurposing them. I am not usually a connoisseur of doughnuts but everyone told me I had to give it a try. I donut know why I didn’t try Sugar Shack sooner!
This is a Fredericksburg staple. People travel from all over to visit Goolrick’s. It is a drug store that also serves milkshakes, sandwiches, and the best real cane sugar fountain sodas. Goolrick’s is so old and is a staple of our hometown. You have not experienced Fredericksburg without coming here. Not to mention it is extremely picture worthy inside!
This is one of my favorite little sections of Fredericksburg solely because it reminds me of Charleston, South Carolina.
This is my absolute favorite spot. The Rappahannock River is a treasure trove to us, Fredericksburginians. The river is a great spot to tube, fish, hike, swim, canoe, and of course take pictures. Not to mention, our river is a huge tourist attraction! Plus look at that beauty! If you ever find yourself in Fredericksburg tell me so I can meet you! xoxo
